On 26 May 2025, a meeting took place during which Kate Jēkabsone, representative of Liepāja State Technical School (LSTS), presented our Erasmus+ project “Extended Reality for Training Green Skills in the Construction Sector” (No. 2023-1-LV01-KA220-VET-000164057).

The meeting brought together representatives from the Klaipėda City Municipality, Liepāja City Municipality, the association “Development Platform YOU+”, and the Kaunas-based association “Youth Personal Development Centre.”

During the presentation, participants were introduced to the online courses and two virtual reality (VR) simulations developed within the project—one created in Croatia and the other in Liepāja. Particular interest was generated by the project’s practical approach to developing green skills in the construction sector, as well as by the fact that the learning materials are available in five languages: English, Finnish, Latvian, Croatian, and German.

The meeting took place within the framework of the project “Development of a Digital Youth Center in Klaipėda and Liepāja” (Digital Youth Center), during which Lithuanian project partners visited Liepāja as part of a study and experience-exchange visit. The aim of the project is to develop a concept for a digital youth center by creating an inclusive virtual environment for young people in Klaipėda and Liepāja. The center is intended to provide opportunities for social interaction and access to various support services, including counselling, addiction prevention services, and career development support. In addition, the Digital Youth Center model will offer educational materials and methodological resources for youth workers.

As the Digital Youth Center model is being developed in close cooperation with cross-sectoral partners, the exchange of experience and exploration of innovative approaches to digital youth work are essential components of the project. For this reason, a meeting with Liepāja State Technical School was organized to learn more about its experience in developing digital learning solutions and applying virtual reality technologies in education.

Liepāja State Technical School received highly positive feedback on the project results presented during the meeting. Participants highly appreciated both the educational content developed within the project and the quality of the virtual reality solutions, describing the project as a professionally implemented initiative of an international standard.
